This was a design collaboration with our good friend Scott at Skepple Design. We enlisted Scott, based on his success with the “Rust Wrap” craze that was happening globally, to come up with a “true-looking” copper with some patina to bring this vision I had to life. Produced in-house, this color was printed on one of our Mutoh’s directly onto Avery Conform Chrome, than laminated with a Avery DOL 1460 high gloss film to give it that realistic “copper” look. We then added the real rivets (heads) to the car (which we painted a bronze color first) … one-by-one by hand. This thing came out absolutely amazing (oh and by the way, it’s a white car underneath).
We also used Avery Brushed Black Metallic to break-up the copper and make it look more aggressive. The customer saw the car for the first time yesterday (I only told him the idea we had, he had not seen the car at all until he saw it in person when completed) … he was speechless … and that makes it all worth it. Thank you Bob, for entrusting us with your GTM Supercar and giving us the opportunity to create something truly one-of-a-kind and simply amazing!!!
Lastly I want to say Thank You to my team for absolutely killing it! They put in some much time on this project, from Scott working with me on the design; to John prepping the car and breakdown, to of course Aaron on the laboring-love installing the wrap and all the several hundred rivets.
